Having recently seen Togolese midfielder Teibou Koura sent off during a game against Lizzano for hitting out at an opponent who called him “nigger”, Italian amateur club Rioveggio decided to present a united front against racism in their game in pretty much the worst way possible – by all turning up for their next game against Casalecchio in black face…

To make matters worse, the Rioveggio team then played the entire game made up like that.

The guy in the middle on the front row looks very convincing. The rest have done a terrible job.

Can’t help but wonder if this was an extremely unsuccessful attempt at humor, a deliberate effort to mock the anti-racism campaign, or a truly stunning lack of understanding and common sense.

Wasn’t there a similar ‘performance’ done by some team in the Serie A or B in the 90s?
BTW, this commentary in the article here is quite racist- assuming the blacks in the UK and the ones in Italy are the same lot and will be offended by the same things.

what’s sad is that koura, the only player on the team of dark skin, has no voice to say, “wait, what the fuck are you all doing? you look ridiculous!” and they make him kneel right over the stupid sign! they should have all worn his name on their jerseys, or worn “no to racism”, because that would have been nice to see. it’s very twilight-zone-logic. i refer you all to the great south park episode, “chef goes nanners”, to expand this theme of utter light-skinned ignorance and how it does nothing to cure the greatest human evil of our time, racism. it’s skin for god’s sake! let’s cure this and move onto another more pressing, less obvious issue!

please, i beg of you, my fellow nameless, faceless message board postees, let’s be a little more caring for our fellow man. it’s great to be able to joke about things, but it would be better if we could joke about them AFTER THE ISSUE IS EVEN SLIGHTLY RESOLVED!
