    Rooney is a massive wanker

  2. Sultan says:

    Fail…guess couldn’t keep his cool after all ….someone must have bet on him to get a red card too !!! :D :D

  3. utd says:

    hardly “moronic” surely?

  4. Ceezer says:

    Foul, but still the guy fell down like he was hit by a car. I’m sick of these reactions to a little kick in the shin. A real man would get kicked and maybe flinch a little bit then proceed to turn around and take his free kick.

  5. JS says:

    Ceezer, that’s a red card in any ref’s book.

  6. Stopping the BS says:

    @JS

    That’s not the point he’s making. Foul, yes, but he wasn’t kicked that hard. It reminds me of when Beckham was sent off in 98 v Argentina. He just tapped the guy on the back of the knee and he went down like he got shot. Same situation here.

    Often times, yellow cards become red cards because the offense is exaggerated by whiny bitches (see: Luis Suarez).

  7. Tom Jones says:

    @Ceezer If you were kicked like that you would have fallen down too. Unless you are extremely fat.

  8. Anonymous says:

    If you’re actually watching you can see the Montenegro player plant his foot before he realizes he has a foul opportunity. Love the typical football “fat” defense though.

  9. Bear says:

    still doesn’t excuse the fact that rooney’s actions were cynical

  10. Johnny Foreigner says:

    Lets blame Ronaldo again. It’s fun just like the last time in 06 where Ronaldo apparently guided Rooney’s boot to step on Carvalho’s nuts. Ronaldo must have did the same here right?

  11. Solihull United says:

    thats why ronaldo was blamed. he clearly riled rooney up, and rooney with his short fuse over reacted.

  12. Montesquieu says:

    At the end of the day, Montenegro still drew with England. I mean, Christ all mighty, this is horrendous. It’s the equivalent of Italy playing a draw out to San Marino, or Falkland Islands winning a match.

    I have no hope for England, absolutely none. This tournament should be the last for the likes of Gerrard, Lampard and other of the ‘golden generation’. They had their chance and failed miserably at making past the quarter finals, how many times and how many tournaments can you lose to penalty kicks. Capello although a good manager and undoubtedly his hands tied behind his back by the FA, cannot change the philosophy and the appearant belief that England deserves automatic qualification to major tournaments and not to mention gain entry into the semi-finals and beyond. Even Uruguayans don’t gloat about their supposed superiority after not having won the world cup in six decades. I guess, we’ll have to wait another twenty years for the spin doctors in the British media to stop making gods out of the English national team.

  13. Fabio says:

    Wow, the last comment is straight on point.

  14. C says:

    Haha, what a twat.

  15. Dont worry says:

    @Tom i dont think any man should fall down like that from a jab in the calf

  16. Roger Mycock says:

    Talk Sport tosspot Adrian Durham is a prime example of bragging about how great England are and how they WILL win Euro 2012. He makes me want to mash up me radio and I’m not even English!

  17. gamblino says:

    If you think Montenegro are on par with san marino or the falkland islands then you don’t know what you’re talking about.

  18. Tully mac says:

    So the ref thinks Rooney shouldnt get more than a 1 match ban. Why doesnt he recind the red card altogether.I have never heard of a referee speaking out on behalf of a player before and as far as i know they are not allowed to comment on any red or yellow cards. Lets face it, if a montenegro played had kicked rooney then you can bet the ref would be making no comment. if uefa back down on this and condone rooneys actions then they might as well be consistent and ignore all red and yellow cards…. madness

  19. Montesquieu says:

    They may not be comparable to San Marino, but due to the fact that they are a new nation with no reputation nor history for football prowess, other than that of the Former Yugoslavia, it can hardly be said that playing Montenegro is like playing against any formidable side from one of the other Former Yugoslav republics.

    Either way, Croatia has in the past snubbed England’s qualification into Europe. While no one can deny Croatia is a good side, the media and English fans make out England to be comparable to Spain or Germany (which makes Croatia seem mediocre when compared to mighty England) that have been on top in the world and continental championships for the last decade. England however has not been a top side on either the continent or in the world in the last decade. They are a good enough side to have been able to squeak by into the Quarters but not good enough to pass onto the semi-finals.

    In the eleven world cups they have occured since their victory, for three of which they did not qualify, they have been in the semi-final once and quarters five times. So perhaps, the media and the fans should stop making themselves into something they are not.

  20. Montesquieu says:

    Spain has been on top of the world and on the continent in the latter half of the decade, before anyone starts nit-picking on my example. Germany, has been consistent in their performances since winning the World Cup in 1990, they have been bronze medalists twice and runners up once. So in Five World Cups since their victory, they have been in top three finish three times.

  21. Fredmeister says:

    @Montesquieu

    Whoa Whoa Whoa! Jonothan Wilson would kill you for that statement!

    Montenegro may well be a small country and a relatively new one, but they have an astonishing record of producing great footballers for decades! Vukicvic and Jovetic are both Champions league footballers, and the country has produced brilliant players under the Yugoslavia banner.

    Indeed they should be troubling England if we are as good as were made out to be, but give them a BIT of credit! I would rate them ahead of all bar Croatia on that front.

  22. K says:

    getting kicked in the calves like that really does hurt you know

  23. Colin says:

    @Montesquieu: Exactly. The media and general public are very disillusioned about how good England are these days but this is only worsened by FIFA placing them fourth in the World rankings. They are nowhere near the level of the likes of Germany, Italy and Uruguay, let alone Spain, Brazil and Argentina. Comparisons with Sweden, Croatia, Paraguay, Ivory Coast, Mexico etc would probably be more appropriate equivalents on the world stage.

    @Fredmeister: I’d say Serbia would give England a run for their money too!

  24. aspers says:

    same thing happened to me on sunday, still hurts now! didnt get shot though, that is a blatent cheat. trying to make it worse than it is

  25. makoto hasebe says:

  26. nummer9 says:

    @makoto hasebe WOT?

  27. Dr Bones says:
