This time two years ago England played a friendly against Brazil without a poppy sewn on their shirts, with ne’er a word uttered by a single soul. The same can be said for a November friendly against France the following year.

This year, thanks to a bout of nonsensical provocation, we have these c**ts spreading their muck…

Yep, you’ve nailed it boys. It’s what the war dead would’ve wanted.

FIFA has done the right thing here. To allow one nation to show its traditions is to allow all nations to show whatever radical traditions they might have. Best keep it out of international football and keep it domestic like we’ve been doing.

    Is that Nigel Pearson?

  3. Joe says:

    Ahahahaha

    @ Nigel Pearson

  4. Rob says:

Could they stop Chicarito from doing that praying thing before kick off too, it’s offensive to atheists.

    @Rob

You should not and cannot control the actions of a single person and their beliefs. You should, however, make sure a nation does not fall under one banner and makes a sweeping statement for the entire nation.

What England are doing may not offend but It opens a proverbial Pandora’s box of issues other nations may feel strongly about and want on their jersey.

  6. James says:

All they’ve done is uphold the laws that apply to all. For once they’re in the right. Trust this knuckle-dragging bunch to go ott as per.

for fucks sake get over yourselves, and play some proper football…

  9. DJ says:

Sirius Lee Black: I was thinking the same thing, that geezer looks like Nigel Pearson.

The thick EDL muppets would only complain if another country wore some sort of symbol they didn’t like so their protest is a bit pointless. The war dead and living veterans should be remembered but there are other ways of doing it.

  10. Greg says:

I surprised the EDL even knew how to get out of this supposedly great country and visit Switzerland, which must have been an absolute hell hole for them. Also can’t help but appreciate the irony of a racist man protesting for the Poppy Appeal whilst wearing ADIDAS trainers.

  11. Mr. Sparkle says:

Freedom of expression and speech exists so all people have a right to showcase their opinion, no matter whether you agree or disagree with it or think it’s intelligent or stupid.

Even the EDL has a right to state their opinion, so long as they do not entice violence or infringe upon anyone’s rights. If suddenly we prohibit even radical groups from being able to express themselves, well, we are no better than a country like Iran or any other despotic totalitarian state where people have no ability to express their views. Sure, it’s a slippery slope. I certainly don’t view EDL opinions as valid; they are ill informed and mostly based on prejudiced fears. However, they have a right to hold those views because it would be wrong for anyone to force them to think otherwise.

As for FIFA and Blatter controlling matters of football that have little change on the game itself, well, that is the fault of the membership nations for voting in for clowns such as Blatter. FIFA is a corrupt entity which serves only itself, all the member nations however have only helped to fuel that reality. Unless in the future rules and limitations are placed on FIFA (such as restricting any individual from holding the presidency for more than a certain amount of terms) and creating a panel for holding the organization accountable and transparent, well you’ll continue to have these problems.
