Already an Ireland U19 international, Raheny United winger Katie McCabe is considered one of the finest talents in Irish women’s football at the moment and once you clap eyes on her opening goal in Sunday’s FAI Cup Final you’ll begin to see why.

McCabe opened the scoring for Raheny in the 20th minute with a cracking free-kick from looooooooong range that whistled past the UCD Waves ‘keeper and straight into the top corner…

Raheny went on to beat Waves 2-1 to lift the cup at the Aviva, thus retaining the trophy for the third straight year.

Well done girls!

(Fun fact: Katie McCabe is the younger sister of Shamrock Rovers’ midfielder Gary McCabe, if that means anything to you)

  1. Straight Dave says:

I’d imagine it’s always likely that long-rangers will go in during women’s football simply because none of the ‘keepers seem to be able to reach the top corners.

  2. Sjakie Meulemans says:

If that’s top corner, then I am a top player. Still a good goal, don’t get me wrong.
