He may be 42 and have the hairline of a young Art Garfunkel, but Rogerio Ceni just keeps on banging in the goals.

That said, Ceni took a fair bit of flak midweek after conceding a goal from 50 yards against Palmeiras after just two minutes when he botched a clearance which dropped straight to Robinho, who promptly dropped it straight back over the veteran stopper’s head.

However, the legendary goalkeeper redeemed himself in fine style just three days later by scoring the opening goal in Sao Paulo’s 3-0 victory over Linense on Sunday.

No prizes for guessing how it went in…

His goal against Linense was the 126th of Ceni’s one-club career, having passed the 100 mark in March of 2011 and the 120 mark in September of last year.

Having played well over 1,000 games for Sao Paulo since making his debut way back in the primordial mists of 1993, Ceni has vowed to retire at the end of this season.

Even if he doesn’t find the net again between now and then, we’re sure you’ll agree that a career tally of 126 goals isn’t too shabby for a goalkeeper to bow out on.

He’s basically just breaking his own world record over and over again. Bloody phenomenal!
