Making his first start of the 2014 World Cup, Porto midfielder Steven Defour got himself sent off just before half-time against South Korea after lunging at Kim Shin-wook.

The challenge was utterly silly, happening almost on the half-way line in a game Belgium didn’t have to win.

Utter madness which will see Defour out of Belgium’s last 16 clash with the USA, the big eejit – although he wouldn’t have started, to be fair.

No attempt made to win the ball. Could have broken the Korean player’s leg. Look at the expression on his face as he goes in to that tackle, just look at it! Only had eyes on hurting the other player. If Suarez gets such a lengthy a ban for his madness, how does this lunacy not receive the same?

As soon as he did that it was obvious what the outcome would be.

That would land you in a prison cell outside a football field.
