The last time these two sides met in a World Cup final in 1990, both Pedro Monzon and Gustavo Dezotti saw red for the Argentinians. Fast forward to the first half of the 2014 final and a high challenge by Germany’s Benedikt Howedes could have, with a more strict referee, have also seen red.

  2. Del says:

Howedes didn’t even protest the card knowing he just got away with murder, he even gave the referee a pat!

Well, with a more strict refree Agüero and Mascherano should have been send off, as well. It’s a World Cup Final. You only give a red when it’s absolutely necessary and here Yellow is just reasonable!

Agüero’s 2nd yellow on the other hand is mandatory!

  4. Wynton says:

Well what about Agüero then? Already booked, he gave Schweinsteiger a bleeding cut beneath the eye and got away with it too.
