Manchester United youngster Jesse Lingard kept alive England’s hopes of qualification for the knockout stages of the European U21 Championship finals with an 85th-minute cracker against Sweden.
Calmly chesting the ball down from the Swedish goalkeeper’s punch, the second-half sub volleyed home to move Gareth Southgate’s charges into second place in Group B, courtesy of a 1-0 win.
The game itself was hardly a classic but the three points puts England in a healthy position ahead of their final group game with Italy.
