Chris Coleman’s in-form Welsh side have made it into the Top 10 of the FIFa rankings for the first time in the country’s history.

Their current ranking bests their previous high of 22nd while they were outside the top 100 as recently as August 2011.

Following their impressive Euro 2016 1-0 win against Belgium, the Welsh have rocketed 12 places up to the rankings to find themselves just one spot behind England.

With Gareth Bale in fine form along with the likes of Aaron Ramsey, the Welsh currently top Group B and find themselves with a great chance of reaching their first major finals tournament since 1958. Not too shabby!

Scotland find themselves 29th, Northern Ireland 37th and the Republic of Ireland are 52nd. While Copa America champs Chile move up to 11th. Check out the full listings here.

As nice as this is to see as a Welshman….it’s all a bit bollocks, isn’t it? below us are Spain, Chile, Uruguay, Croatia, Italy, Czech rep, Ivory coast, France, Ghana, Poland, Sweden, US…..they’d all beat us on any given day.

I know that the FIFA rankings are often scoffed at, but this one is a bit daft in my opinion, as much as I love seeing us up there. The good thing being that we get a better seeding in the World Cup draw, which is tidy, but I still find it a bit of a head-scratcher from FIFA.

    ROMANIA

I’m confused by a rating that says Wales are better than Chile.

And Romania, whose most recent results are 1-0 over the friggin’ Faroe Islands and 0-0 against world powerhouses Northern Ireland, is above them? On the strength of, uh, uh…

FIFA ranking is basically a farting cusion, occasionally causes roaring laughter, but most of the time it’s painfully apparent that microscopes or teaspoons are, in the long run, the more relevant objects.

FIFA rankings are such a load of horse shit. How is it that Argentina is number one but lost the WC AND the Copa America?
