Gabor Kiraly is a bit of a character. The chunky 40-year-old, who became the oldest player ever to play in a Euro finals competition this month has enjoyed a fine career, lining out for the likes of Hertha Berlin, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Burnley.
Famed for donning ill-fitting, baggy grey sweatpants when he plays, Kiraly’s iconic style choices have now resonated on the other side of the Atlantic.
Ahead of Hungary’s Group F clash with Iceland, football pundits on Canadian sports TV channel TSN paid tribute to the veteran glovesman with a fine display of dodgy leisurewear…
Superb stuff!
Kiraly’s choice of trackie bottoms came initially for protection when playing on hard surfaces. However, it soon turned into a superstition which continues to this day.
Forget David Beckham or Paul Pogba, good old Gabor is a true fashion icon.
