PAS Lamia goalkeeper Nikos Papadopoulos has been slapped with a hefty five-match suspension for the heinous crime of ‘accidentally’ hugging a match official at the end of a recent Greek Super League match.

Papadopoulos was so overcome with elation after Lamia scored a 97th-minute equaliser in their 2-2 draw against Panaitolikos on Sunday that he kissed, embraced and shook referee Ioannis Neophatiadis.

However, Neophatiadis did not take kindly to the impromptu cuddle and promptly sent Papadopoulos off before blowing the final whistle.

According to Greek radio station Sport FM, the Super League Disciplinary Committee have now finally metered out their judgement and levelled a five-match suspension at Papadopoulos for abusing the referee.

Some people.
