After a goal-strewn (12 to be precise) start to the season, it would appear that Cardiff target man Jay Bothroyd is now in England manager Fabio Capello‘s thoughts as the Italian veteran begins to mull over his options for the upcoming friendly with France on November 17th.

Capello sent assistant Stuart Pearce to specifically watch Bothroyd during the Welsh side’s 3-1 win over Norwich last Saturday and he duly returned with glowing reviews after watching the striker open the scoring, before laying on Michael Chopra for the second with a deft flick-on.

With Wayne Rooney, Jermain Defoe, Bobby Zamora and Gabriel Agbonlahor all injured whilst Carlton Cole steadily regresses back toward the bad old days, it seems that Capello has had to further widen his net in order to adequately stock his forward ranks after handing Bolton striker Kevin Davies a surprise call-up last month.

As well as a surprise nod for Bothroyd, there are suggestions that Newcastle’s pair of enforced co-habitants Andy Carroll and Kevin Nolan may also be in line for inclusion.
