It’s fair to say that Sheffield Wednesday have suffered at the hands of some frankly abominable away kits over the years (take Exhibits A, B and C for example) but none were worse than the silver and lilac nylon aberration that adorned The Owls on their travels for the 1986/87 season…

Christ, would you just look at those shorts! Richard Simmons would likely turn his nose up at those for being to garish and revealing.

As is the perverse nature of the football kit community, whereas Wednesday would’ve struggled to shift one of these blighters back in the late 80s, they are now changing hands for nigh-on £100 a pop on Ebay.

Go figure.

Wierdly enough, it could have actually been worse for the club, seeing as though this was the rejected prototype design for their 86/88 away kit…
