In what must surely rank up there as one of the most bizarre kit launch gimmicks we’ve ever come across, the limited edition version of Sampdoria’s new Joma home kit comes with a little hidden speaker hidden inside the badge that emits a club chant when you touch it.
Apparently the chant was specially sung and recorded by several Samp players and is specifically designed to encourage fans during times of hardship – like when they discover their hair is falling out, etc…
This is not a spoof. Repeat, this is not a spoof. It is 100% genuine. At least we think it is anyway…
As Gazzetta report, only 350 of the limited edition jerseys are going on sale on July 30th so you’ll have to be lightning quick to get your hands on one.
UPDATE: Nothing concrete either way but Sampdoria have just stripped the video down from Youtube which is never a particularly reassuring sign.
Hands up, they had us going for a moment there.
