Bristol City’s owners have vowed to investigate after a rather significant production flaw was discovered inside one of their new replica shirts.

Matthew Gillett recently took receipt of his gaudy purple and lime pre-order jersey only to find it had a rogue Oxford United label stitched inside.

Upon noticing the error, the bemused City fan immediately took to Twitter in search of answers…

It wasn’t long before Gillett’s tweet was noticed by Bristol Sport, who own the Championship club and supply their kit.

Sure enough, an apology from chief executive Andrew Billingham was duly forthcoming:

We are investigating the matter and it appears to be an isolated incident,

We use a network of factories who produce for other clubs and major brands. Since the issue was highlighted we have checked all remaining stock and I am pleased to say no further issues have been identified.

I have requested an urgent review of all manufacturing processes from our supplier to ensure this cannot happen again.

Bristol Sport also requested that if any other fans discover similar flaws with their pre-order shirts, then they should contact the club shop to arrange an exchange or a refund.

Better still, hold on to it and stick that rare sucker on Ebay.
