Something tells us that Newcastle’s new away kit is going to be mighty, mighty popular with the fans.

Puma have pilfered design pointers directly from the club’s beloved and iconic 1995/96 striped away shirt, as graced by David Ginola, Les Ferdinand, Faustino Asprilla and Darren Peacock…

The button neck, the Newky Brown logo, 12 points clear in January, Kevin Keegan reduced to a quivering puddle of mush on Sky Sports, Toon pushing Manchester United all the way.

While it’s a shame about the chintzy sponsor on the new shirt (how many kits can you say that about these days?), we confidently predict that it will be flying off many a Geordie shelf come release day.
