Barcelona have signed Atletico Madrid’s hirsute schemer Arda Turan for a fee of 34million Euros.

The deal has been completed despite the Catalan giants’ current FIFA ban which was supposed to stop them signing any players in 2015. However, once again Barca have sidestepped the ban, albeit with the fesity Turan not available for action until January.

The Turkish international captain has been one of the jewels in Diego Simeone’s hugely successful Atletico side, and is comfortable out wide or in a central playmaking role. A target for Chelsea this summer, the 28-year-old unsurprisingly plumped for a chance to play behind the not-too-shabby trio of Messi, Neymar and Suarez.

The move could now see Simeone making a move for Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla to fill the rather large hole left by Turan’s departure. While Spanish international Pedro could be set to leave the Nou Camp, with the Gunners reported to be interested.

As for these transfer bans, what really is the point?

What’s he gonna do for 6 months though?

When is Platini going to put his foot down here, and show UEFA that he has the balls to take on the biggest clubs in Europe? If he’s not up to the job, get someone who is.

Amazing barca makes transfers even through this.. Ueaflona

  4. Ahmet says:

According to Turkish media, he will play on loan at PSG until Barca’s ban is lifted.

Spanish papers have Atletico targeting Nico from Benfica with a 35million buyout. Numbers add up.

As for Barca ban, its total BS that UEFA is allowing this. Would be great is if UEFA steps in after Atletico has the cash and states that Turan’s contract is not valid and he becomes a free agent to sign anywhere with no refund to Barca for their losses. That would teach them a lesson for cheating the system.

Barca are allowed to sign players, i.e. agree a contract that Turan is a Barca player in 2016, but they aren’t allowed to register him as a Barca player until next year. It’s not rocket science. What bothers me, rather, is Turan doesn’t seem a Barca-type player. Barca will end up like Real Madrid if they’re not careful, too many midfielders and none they really trust long-term.

Mdot – what rubbish. Turan wants to play for Barca so wouldn’t sign for anyone else anyway. As What4 says, they can agree terms, but new players can’t actually play until 2016.
