  1. busker rhymes says:

good list, id try and squeeze in anelka or maybe henry but i guess theres a danger of being too france heavy!

  2. juancullo says:

    casillas?????????????????????

  3. Jack says:

Some of the players cannot take full blame for a poor team showing, eto was played out of position on the wing when he would have been much more effective through the middle and cahill was harshly sent off after ultametly carrying the aussie team. But I agree with the majority, danny, krasic, luis fabiano were poor..the frenchies in general were merde.

  4. spectator says:

    xavi.

and the german managerial staff for wearing dark cardigans with tan v-necks and generally being ingracious shites.

  5. Jason says:

To Ollie, is it possible to somehow change the format of the photo section so that the whole site doesn’t refresh as we turn to a new page? Don’t know about anyone else, but it’s a bit annoying for me to refresh the whole page over just to scroll down again to view the next photo. Just a suggestion

  6. Ollie says:

@ Jason – I know it can be annoying and it’s not ideal, but in terms of Pies being a small site, we really do need the extra page impressions that our gallery format uses. Am looking into making it easier to use though. Soz!

  7. Joe says:

Agree with Casillas, he was lucky to stay on with the Switzerland goal

  8. Sheps says:

@Ollie: why do you need page impressions? For adverts? If so just refresh the adverts for every photo as well. If it’s for statistics so you can compare cock sizes with other football websites, don’t you want to actually be on top of those on merit rather than cheating the system?

@Jason: open the image in a new window, then change the last letter in the url of the photo.

    For instance, this is pienaar:
    http://www.whoateallthepies.tv/wp-content/gallery/disappointing-players/pa-photos_t_top-20-disappointing-world-cup-players-1806a.jpg

so therefore second photo in the gallery is:

    and third:

    etc.

  9. Montesquieu says:

I would nominate the whole French team.

  10. Ollie says:

@ Sheps – All sites need impressions for ad revenue and currently this gallery system, as flawed as it is, is the best we have. I appreciate it can be frustrating having to scroll through photos, but we’re working on a more streamlined system.

Not a contest with other sites, at all. It’s more to do with me not being able to pay my rent if we don’t get the traffic. After all, Pies is an independent site that can’t compete with the big boys in terms of resources. Essentially, it’s just little old me (with sterling help from writers such as Chris, of course). But I take your point, believe me.

  11. Thomas says:

You forgot Ronaldo…I wish there was a jersey sales vs. actual performance measurement.

  12. temjin says:

Di Maria = crap. finally someone gets it right. talk about hype.

  13. Marie says:

    Martin Jorgensen?! No way.

    James Milner – yes.

  14. Bluebybirth says:

you forgot the whole england starting xi…

  15. yank says:

rob green :) he got all the oil you were singing about it the stands on his gloves!! DTOM

  16. Paolo says:

Either way…these players one another are in the opposing team. if one does well then naturally the other will not. Though in this WC a lot of the stars are not performing.

  17. me says:

How come Casillas is on the list but not Green????????

  18. Deckard says:

I’m surprised there no Dutchies there. I’m very critical of my team when the performance ain’t there. Robin Van Persie and Rafael Van Der Vaart easily belong on this list in my mind. They were simply crap against Denmark. And if it wasn’t for that marvelous through ball to Elia right at the end, Sneijder too can join the list IMO.

Less than an hour to go before we face Japan, let’s hope for a much, much better performance from this team that in fact has loads of quality.

  19. Tom P. says:

    Far too early for this.

  20. Anonymous says:

Why is Sydney Govou in this list ? He’s not good enough to be in a local team let alone an international side, you can’t disappoint if there are no expectations of you in the first place. He truely is a terrible player.

  21. nasra says:

    i loved the games sofar

  22. chris says:

    your site design is appalling.

i got to number 2 before deciding i didn’t want to wait for a page refresh everytime i wanted to see who was next on the list…

  23. chris says:

your point about impressions doesn’t make much sense, simply because no-one is going to hang around long enough to make an impression on the last few pages.

  24. osem16 says:

i can’t imagine a player like Rooney never scored any goal though he was the most treasured, what a dissapointment 4 England fans?????

  25. Robben11 says:

    What the hell?.
Villa?. I think he’s the best player of the world cup.
Where the hell is ronaldo?. He’s the worst player of the world
cup. 21 efforts on goal, 1 lucky goal. And most of his passes
weren’t completed. He’s shit, especially for the most expensive
    player in the world
