As alluded to already this morning, Liverpool hammered Brighton 6-1 at Anfield in the FA Cup yesterday afternoon without actually scoring half of the goals, with the Seagulls notching three own goals – the first time three O.Gs have been scored by the same side in a match since the FA Cup began in 1871.

Liam Bridcutt scored the first two own-goals, though the pick of the bunch was the third of the evening – coming courtesy of Lewis Dunk, who brought down Luis Suarez’s cross on his chest then proceeded to keepy-uppy the ball across his own goal line in front of the Kop.

“Twas truly special…

(Skip to the 3:10 mark for Dunk’s flunk)

The bad news for Dunk is that, despite his best efforts, he still hasn’t scored the most nonchlant own-goal in FA Cup history – with that dubious honour going to Djimi Traore who, playing for Liverpool at the time, tucked away this beauty against Burnley in the third round back in 2005…

It just gets better and better!
