Liverpool Unveil New Purple Third Kit – Bad, But Not Nearly As Bad As We Hoped It’d Be! (Video)

By Chris Wright

Liverpool have finally gotten round to unveiling their new Warrior third kit for 2012/13 and, while it’s really quite bad, it’s not nearly as horrendous as we all collectively hoped it was going to be.

Shame…

It’s more ‘unusual’ than it is ‘absolute pigging eyesore’, which is a bit of a let down once you consider who fantastically shite the various waves of mock-ups we’ve been treated to over the last few months…

It’s still awful, but then that was kind of the point all along. Saying it’s just a third strip, Warrior had been riding a fair old wave of buzz off the back of the will it be?/won’t it be? rumours for yonks. Will the furore help them shift a few more units? That remains to be seen as, after all, the finished model is still pretty terrible.

What say you Pies fans? Love it/like it/don’t hate it/burn it with fire?*

It’s not as hideous as the mock-up, but I’m not a fan. That orange collar spoils it. Oh yes, the official LFC site description for that colour is “Nightshade” :/

  2. C says:

    The tribals scream white trash.

  3. plops says:

It’s almost as if Liverpool want people to laugh at them! Especially considering the laughable season they’ve just had.

  4. Fernando says:

The fact the real one is less awful than the horrendous mock-up makes it worse. If you’re gonna go bad, go big! (cf Everton’s pink away kit).

This kit looks like it’s being serious (and I like the nightshade & orange), but the tribal pattern suggests it’s a bit of a joke. Just not *enough* of a joke to be truly shiteously amazing.

  5. usrick says:

Much less bad than the mock-ups. This “nightshade” is actually tolerable, so long as the side doesn’t actually wear it for a game or anything.

  6. Milkchew says:

Does it warrant actually being a third kit considering our second kit is black and this one is virtually black?

  7. tenblackalps says:

For all its worth, i.e the bashing of the kit mock ups by everyone (including me) over the last couple months, it is actually a pretty OK shirt. Wouldn’t be too fussed as they will only wear it a handful of times

  8. Toz says:

Would have been better if the purple was the colour of Fiorentina.

  9. Anonymous says:

To be fair the “tribal” aspect is meant to be the Shankly gates, not random Mauri insignia.

  10. Marquette Jer says:

    Grape Jelly.

  11. redman5772 says:

clearly not the best looking kit but the so called tribal patterns on the arms are taken from the shankly gates abit of class from warrior

  12. Peter says:

Compared to what we thought it would be, not bad. Compared to anything else, burn it, burn it with hot fire!!! That said, I wouldn’t hate it so much if it wasn’t for those tribal tats on the sleeves. Bur ^ Milkchew has a point, the 2nd strip is already black, so whats the point?

  13. jon says:

For a rugby shirt, it’s really quite nice

  14. D says:

This kit was never going to be liked. After they stupidly thought that the really crappy mockup was going to be a genuine kit… dicks!
