What a cracking game that was! The victory by Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday could well be the pivotal game in the race for the Premier League trophy and just how much it meant to the Reds was encapsulated by captain Steven Gerrard after the final whistle, with the Kop legend shedding a few tears, tears which are all the more poignant on this weekend marking the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy.

  1. Chris says:

It been a while since an LFC player could look at themselves in the mirror and really, truly be proud. It bears no explanation – it is what it is.

  2. Jarren says:

There’s no doubt now who every neutral football fan wants to win the league.

Skill, passion, determination. Thrilling to watch.

If Chelsea snatch the league, football as a sport loses.

  3. KingB3113 says:

@Jarren Who gives you the authority to speak on behalf of all neutrals? I, for one, do not want to see the league go to a team (Liverpool) who have benefited so greatly from poor refereeing over the course of the season.

  4. nat says:

fuck you kingb3113 scum who gave you the right to escape your bitch of a mother’s womb. everyone wants liverpool to win the league, except manure fans good luck with 6th or 7th.

  5. Tosser says:

@kingb3113 as an Arsenal fan I’m with Jarren. When Kolo gave away points (forget when) and the coach said that he asked for a passing game rather than hang blame on any one player I began pulling for Pool (we’ve not had a: chance without Ramsey or clue or drive since Christmas thankfully Spurs have had even less).

The sad matter is that lots of English LFC players are going to get to Brazil and then play nothing like this formation or set of tactics.

Gerrard lost a cousin 25 years ago perhaps the waterworks can be praised too in this mercenary game we follow.

  6. Rob says:

I wish I was gay, a big younger, better looking and Gerrard was single

  7. Straight Dave says:

Let’s not forget Suarez should’ve been given a second yellow for an embarrassing dive and Skrtel should’ve been penalised for a blatant handball in the box. Now that Fergie’s not managing any more, presumably referees needed a new benefactor this season? It certainly would appear that way.

  8. dc says:

    embarrassing dive? LOL

  9. Hasselhof says:

No, he’s right. As a neutral that really doesn’t care so much for the English game, but watches the league, we certainly do want LFC to win. They’ve gone about rebuilding properly, play with heart and passion, play a fluid and attacking brand of football, and play as a team instead of a bunch of rent boys. Basically the direct opposite of Chelsea.

  10. Hasselhof says:

Too add to my pervious post, we’ll all be better off watching LFC on Tuesday and Wednesday nights next year as well. Suarez in CL is a tasty proposition.

  11. ChronicYouth says:

Cynics be damned. This was a rare poignant moment. Let it be what it is.

  12. Grant says:

Liverpool are a disgrace. Suarez and Gerrard are cheating divers. Don’t want them to win anything. Definitely don’t want Stevie G or Suarez to win the league.

  13. Jaime says:

As a Fulham fan and definite neutral in any title race, I really hope Chelsea or City snatch the title at the end of season because what a finish that would be. Maybe decided in the Aguero-esque injury time minute goal.

That aside massive respect for Stevie G.

  14. Al says:

@ KIngB3113 – utter nonsense. The referee, for such a big game and occasion, performed well, the odd dodgy decision for both teams was not even a factor (Skrtel handball but liverpool had a shout for a fairly obvious penalty as well) The diving from Suarez was counteracted by diving from Silva nad Dzeko. Add to that how a number of decisions went against Livrpool in the game at City around Christmas and all in all everything was pretty balanced

  15. gimbus says:

Jaime = pathetic jealous Filtham fan. Hopefully your joke of a club will go down and than do the Portsmouth with all that overpaid duds you bought

  16. Mr. Chopper says:

When I first saw it, I thought Sakho had poked him in the eye. Even now, I can still see that.

  17. Nuno says:

As a neutral (non-English) I’m utterly divided, as Liverpool plays as a proper team, with determination, and are the underdogs, so I would like them to win the League; but there’s a part of me that just wants Suarez to lose it, the cheating bastard (as much of a good player as he is).

  18. TravisKOP says:

@Jaime: you are hardly a Fulham fan if you want the plastic Stamford Bridge cunts to take the title over the clear underdogs (a position Fulham are constantly in). Chelsea are scum and fulham fans understand that better than most
