Liverpool secured a vital victory at Anfield on Saturday despite producing yet another shaky display.

Adam Lallana bagged his first goal for the Reds since he move from Southampton, linking up well with Jordan Henderson before slotting home on the stroke of half-time.

However, soon after the restart, the Baggies were level courtesy of a Saido Berahino penalty. That spot-kick came after the nervy Dejan Lovren fouled the West Brom striker. Referee Michael Oliver immediately pointed to the spot despite the initial infringement had taken place just outside the area.

Despite the controversial nature of the Baggies’ equaliser, the hosts deserved to get back into the game after a much-improved second-half display. Ultimately, though, it was the home side who would take all three points after outstanding Henderson added to his assist with the match-winning goal just after the hour-mark.

Liverpool go sixth, West Brom 13th.
