Liverpool – Stoke City – Premier League – 29th November 2014

A late and very brave header from Glen Johnson secured a precious win for Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday, after the Reds battled hard for the three points against an impressive Stoke side.

Former Barcelona starlet Bojan Krkic was at the centre of the Potters’ vibrant forward play, with the diminutive forward hitting the post and forcing a fine save form Simon Mignolet. However, the hosts, who had captain Steven Gerrard on the bench until the last 15 minutes, stood firm and eventually got the goal courtesy of a Johnson header after Rickie Lambert’s superb looping header had come back off the bar. In scoring that goal, full-back Johnson received an accidental kick in his head for this troubles, but the pain was worth it as the Merseysiders grabbed all three points.

Brendan Rodgers’ charges go 11th, leapfrogging Stoke in the process.
