Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Liverpool v Swansea City - Anfield

Bollock-dropper extraordinaire

With possession retention being nine tenths of the law these days, you really can’t blame Swansea ‘keeper Lukasz Fabianski for wanting to play out from the back at all costs – all his friends are doing it, after all.

What you can blame him for, however, is being a bit pap with the ball at his feet…

Ugh. Idiotic, truly idiotic.

When will this relentless, blindly insistent scourge of “playing out from the back no matter what” end?

Can’t managers see it’s actively costing goals on a game-by-game basis now?

“the thing about Swansea is they like to play football” – Everyone, all the time

Mignolet must have been secretly pleased.

Chris, I would hope you were smarter than this: “When will this relentless, blindly insistent scourge of “playing out from the back no matter what” end?”

I hope it can be agreed that this was a bad choice by an individual (for example there was an open passing lane ahead, why try to turn and chip and on rushing player? Error)

In other words, there’s a distinction between application and approach. It doesn’t matter what your approach is: if you apply it poorly things will go wrong!!

Secondly, no team in the world plays it out of the back “no matter what” not even Barcelona. Valdes reverted to hoofing it near the end of his time there because: What’s the difference if he plays it long or Pique plays it long due to duress? Not much really.
