Obviously assuming he’d be quite safe betting against goal-shy Fernando Torres to score in his first Madrid derby since his return to Atletico, ESPN pundit Craig Burley went big and bombastically declared that should Nando trouble the back of Real’s net, he’d gladly go out and get the striker’s face tattooed about his person.
Lo and behold, Torres went and scored a couple of goals in last Wednesday’s Copa Del Rey second-leg tie (the first coming less than a minute into the game), leaving Burley red-faced and in need of a quick ring round his local tattoo parlours.
In fairness to Burley, he kept up his end of the bargain manfully – opting to have a really rather large image of Nando’s face needled onto his forearm as penance for his misplaced bravado…
