In which, with another Merseyside derby due to commence this evening, BBC North West Tonight reporter Stuart Flinders hits the streets of the city in order to ask various members of the public about their memories of derbies past.

Stumbling across an older chap, Flinders brought up the 1967 FA Cup fifth round clash between Liverpool and Everton – completely unaware of the fact that he was actually talking to Tommy Lawrence, Liverpool’s goalkeeper on the day!

What are the chances?

As for the game in question, Everton beat Liverpool 1-0 (with a goal from Alan Ball) in front of 64,318 fans at Goodison, with a further 40,169 Liverpool fans watching the game at Anfield thanks to the giant screen mentioned in the clip.

The game brought a fitting end to a fairly miserable week for the Reds which saw manager Bill Shankly offering his resignation (it was quickly turned down) after missing out on signing Howard Kendall, who chose to join Everton instead.
