Swansea City 0-1 Liverpool – Premier League – 16th March 2015
Liverpool kept alive their hopes of a top-four finish on Monday night, albeit thanks to a generous slice of luck.
Swansea impressed in the first period, with Simon Mignolet saving from both Bafetimbi Gomis and Gylfi Sigurdsson. However, Liverpool have been in fine form in 2015 and the second-half so a marked improvement.
Just before the hour-mark, playmaker Philippe Coutinho went close and then on 68 minutes, the breakthrough came for the Reds. Stand-in captain Jordan Henderson was the goal-hero for the visitors, but only after the ball had ricochet’s in off the midfielder following a challenge from Jordi Amat. Still, that goal ultimately proved enough to secure a precious victory for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Liverpool go fifth, two points off a top-four berth, while Garry Monk’s Swans are ninth.
