liverpool%20fan.jpg1 AC Milan shouldn’t have been in the competition to begin with – they were initially kicked out for their part in the Italian match-fixing scandal.
2 The referee promised a minimum of three minutes injury time. He played 2mins 40secs, including a lengthy Milan substitution.
3 Inzaghi’s first goal was clearly handball.

4 Renowned matchwinner Alvaro Albeloa was waiting on the touchline for ages before the referee let him on. If allowed on earlier he would definitely have won the game for Liverpool.
5 The Reds were disadvantaged on the left-wing. They only had a soon-to-be-released reserve player who can’t cross a ball and an injury prone antipodean with a penchant for falling over to choose from.

  1. Laura says:

SO TRUE! I know it sounds bitter but Liverpool have been known to do amazing things in 20 seconds. Robbed I tell you…

  2. Timothy B. says:

    6. The sun was shining too bright.
    7. Pepe had a tummyache.
    8. Greece is closer to Italy than England.
    9. Crouch wasn’t allowed to bring his Teddy Bear on the pitch.
    10. Waaaaaaaaah.

  3. jamilinho says:

    haha nice :)

  4. joe says:

As a Chelsea supporter I’d be the first one to wish Liverpool a heartbreak like this but to be fair the reds deserved to win. Milan were lucky, negative and boring for most of the match. It was a shitty way to end the tournament which had so many great matches especially from the UK teams.

  5. Zaid says:

Italian teams are shit. I really hate that when Inzaghi play-acting trying to run down the clock. Shit~

  6. Timothy B. says:

Thought of some more whilst at work:
    11. Gerrard was unable to properly call plays because he injured his tongue trying to pronounce “Jankulovski”.
    12. Riise partied too hard after winning the inaugural “Oliver Kahn lookalike contest”.
    13. Bolo is easily startled by loud noises.
    14. You know we Englishmen don’t play so well against these “foreign” teams.
And the number one excuse for Liverpool’s loss:
    McLaren’s fault!

  7. Rob says:

    Timothy B,
I think it’s supposed to be a list of funny excuses.

  8. Molby says:

    15. They didn’t have anymore fingers left on one hand to show how many European Cups they’ve won.
My only real moan is that the ref should have played at least 3:30 minutes of added time.

  9. Ron Burgundy says:

Fair the ref didn’t play the extra 50 seconds but surely the “offside” against Kaka despite him being at least 2 yards onside which stopped him being 1-on-1 with the keeper and the possibly offside Liverpool goal rule out the nonsense of “added time”.

  10. Kaya says:

I think the pre-game karaoke outing was sorely missed. No wonder Riise couldn’t hit a target.

  11. Molby says:

But those 50 seconds would have been enough time for Arbeloa to have scored at least 2 solo goals, taking on the whole Milan side.

  12. jesmond says:

one italian team has beaten three english crying teams always crying crying crying you can’t beat milan team never milan are the champions

  13. johan says:

MILAN ARE THE CHAMPIONS AND THE WORLD’S BEST TEAM,AND THE MOST CLUB THAT HAVE WON CUPS IN THE WORLD AND THAT PERSON WHO SAID THOSE THINGS ABOUT THE ITALIAN TEAMS I WILL TELL HIM ‘YOU JEALOUS GUY’ ENGLAND WILL NEVER BE BETTER THAN ITALY GOD BLESS YOU ALL

  14. Anthony says:

Amen to that Brother!!! 4 World Cups to a pathetic 1. 6 UCL cups to a lousy 3. Even Stan Colimore (former Liverpool player) said “MILAN deserved to WIN!!!” and Carragher clearly stated that “Liverpool were just NOT good enough!!!” “Oww diddims”!! Most of you English supporters (esp. Liverpool fans) are the biggest cry babies who continue to carry a sore loser’s case of sour grapes… You should try some Italian grapes they’re so much sweeter!!! World Champions and now Milan the premier club of this century (Italy’s finest) and of the last 20 years I might add!!! A record that you can only dream of. But for Italy it is sweet REALITY!!! It’d be so sad for a country to never experience the unbelievable joy of winning a World Cup in the modern era!!! I guess Perotta is English born… and that’s the closest you’ll ever get!!!! To conclude in the words of Martin Tyler(a commentator from your own country) “ITALY ARE ON TOP OF THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!” 2006 (and that’s him saying it)!!! PS: Use a kleenex tissue, the tears will clog up the keyboard! ha ha ha
