Liverpool proved too good (and too darned fast) for West Ham on Saturday evening, with the Reds cruising to a 4-1 win at the London Stadium.

The visitors opened the scoring on 21 minutes, courtesy of a classic counter-attacking move.

From a West Ham corner, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané raced up the pitch in tandem before the former buried one past Joe Hart.

Just three minutes later, the Reds doubled their lead, with Joel Matip nipping in to net from close-range after Joe Hart initially saved from a Mark Noble deflection.

After looking sluggish in the first half, The Hammers were much improved after the break and got one back on 55 minutes.

Manual Lanzini was the goalscorer for the hosts, after he eluded Joe Gomez with a deft chest trap before poking past Simon Mignolet.

But just 57 seconds later, Liverpool restored their two-goal advantage, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain netting his first Premier League goal for the Reds at the second time of asking.

A deflated West Ham pushed for another goal, but the damage was done.

Indeed, it was Liverpool who went on to score their fourth goal of the game after more flimsy defending from Slaven Bilic’s mob, with the in-form Salah firing past Hart after more good work from Mané – thus taking the Egyptian winger’s season goal tally to 12 in just 17 appearances.

James Milner than had a great chance to add to West Ham’s misery, only for the Liverpool sub to direct his shot just wide of the post.

The game would end 4-1 to the away side, in front of a half-empty stadium, with the pressure once again ramping up on Hammers’ boss Bilic.

West Ham now find themselves just one point above the drop-zone, while Jurgen Klopp and co. move into sixth.
