Following swiftly on from the corresponding Europa League draw, UEFA wheeled out Andriy Shevchenko to perform the drawing of lots for the Champions League semi-finals.
The first semi out of the bowl o’ doom was Bayern Munich versus Real Madrid, who squeaked past Sevilla and Juventus to make it into the hat, in a battle of the super clubs.
After shelling Man City out of the equation in the previous, Liverpool then found themself lumped against Roma, erstwhile slayers of Barcelona, in their last-four encounter.
As far as Jurgen Klopp’s team are concerned, that’s probably the kindest draw they could have hoped for – not that the Giallorossi are to be taken lightly, of course.
We’ll be opponents for 180 minutes, but whatever happens we’ll remain friends for life. Looking forward to seeing you again, @22mosalah! 👋#ASRoma #UCL #RomaLiverpool pic.twitter.com/eo0Rm4VWW9
