Chelsea moved to within two points of fourth-placed Tottenham after a 1-0 win against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Reds started with Trent Alexander-Arnold in an advanced position ahead of Nathaniel Clyne, while Gary Cahill started in a back three for the Blues.

The visitors started well but it was the home side who would open the scoring on 18 minutes.

Olivier Giroud was the man to make the breakthrough, with the ex-Arsenal man heading home from a Victor Moses cross, after the much-maligned Tiemoué Bakayoko had started the move with a fine cross-field pass.

Chelsea had chances to increase their lead after the break, with Eden Hazard and Marcos Alonso both going close against a Liverpool side with their minds, unsurprisingly, firmly on their upcoming Champions League final clash with Real Madrid.

The result sees Chelsea keep the pressure on Spurs for that fourth Champions League spot, while Jurgen Klopp’s side are just one point ahead of the Lilywhites in third.
