Liverpool have revealed their new away strip for the 2018/19 season and my god, it’s so very, very, incredibly purple.

New Balance have sought inspiration from the past and plumped for a return to ‘Deep Violet’, which they reliably inform us was last used for the Reds’ iconic third strip of 2012/13.

Nope, us neither.

Anyway, this latest effort features a “jacquard linear graphic” on the front which apparently reflects the architecture of Anfield’s iconic Main Stand.

It also employs “Alpha Orange branding”, which we think is a round-the-houses way of saying the trim is bright orange…

Those interested might be keen to know that the accompanying goalkeeper shirt is rendered in “Vivid Cactus” – or plain old green, as we used to call it.

Hells Bells. Louder than Joey Barton.

  2. Rob says:

Sticking a vivid cactus in goal may be more useful than both of our keepers, at least the ball might stick to it.

Orange and purple are the official colours of the Protestant Orange Order. So expect to see plenty of these on the streets of Belfast during the upcoming marching season…
