Liverpool’s nightmare run in the Champions League continued last night when they lost 2-1 to Besiktas in Turkey. That leaves the club with only one point from their first three games and their hopes of reaching the knockout stages clinging by a thread.
“Obviously it is very difficult now for us to get through but I believe we still can. There are three games left and we must win all three, but we can do that,” said Rafael Benitez optimistically. Do you believe him?

No, I do not believe one word that Rafa says as I think he has truly lost it along with our chances of qualification.

I’m a gooner and I seriously think that Rafa has blown it. Changing the team after every game just doesn’t work, and Kuyt and Voronin can’t play together. We’re playing them at the weekend and to be honest, we couldn’t be playing them at a better time. Theo will run rings around them – and if he doesn’t Sami Hyppia can always give us a helping hand! :D

I am expecting a shonky display from Liverpool this weekend and even as a Liverpool fan I shall be betting on the Gunners.

  4. Adam says:

Amazing huh? When Liverpool doesn’t have the ref give them a helping hand, they don’t win!

  5. MARINA GABRIEL says:

Liverpool can still qualify! They can do anything but not with Benitez at the helm. If only he would go back to Spain and take all the foreign players he brought with him!

As poorly as they’re playing right now, Liverpool were nothing without Benitez. As for the person who suggested that all of the forrin’ players should go home, perhaps you think that the headless-chicken popularly known as Gerrard could lead them? And that Crouch (who is a great support striker, but no strike weapon) would be their main source of goals?
I can’t stand Liverpool, but I’d bet on them getting out of the group stages. Two home wins and any sort of points in France should be enough to see them safely into second place.

  8. How sad that the only one who had any faith was Chris who “can’t stand Liverpool”
Let Rafa get on with the job, don’t jump on any press-inspired bandwagons (remember zonal marking / rotation / how quickly they were put to bed once Rafa proved they worked…) and come the end of the season all will be well.
