gerrard arsenal pen.jpg1 What a match! Thrilling, pulsating action and a couple of great goals. An old fashioned English cup tie, Champions League style.
Rafa Benitez is Mr Champions League. For all his frustrating rotating in the Premier League, you can’t help but think that he knows that most of his players will be relatively fresh when it comes to the business end of the Champions League.
Fernando Torres is just superb. His excellent finish to give Liverpool the lead – his 29th goal of the season – was decisive.

Emmanuel Adebayor’s new hairdo hoodoo strikes again. The Togolese striker missed a sitter when Arsenal were 2-1 down.
Whereas Sami Hyypia’s attempts to copy Torres’ hair seems to have given him a new-found goalscoring prowess.
I feel very sorry for Theo Walcott. What a dramatic impact he made and what a fantastic run from his own half for Arsenal’s second goal. He could so easily have taken all the headlines this morning.
Arsenal completely outplayed Liverpool in the first half. They were back to their early season form.
Pepe Reina should have stopped Abou Diaby’s opener at his near post. The Spaniard seems to be suffering a severe dip in form at the moment.
I am seriously considering starting a Who Ate All The Pies whip around towards a redundancy package for Clive Tyldesley. Think of it as a sponsored silence, Clive.
Thankfully that was an exciting match to hold onto through the inevitable snoozefest of another Liverpool-Chelsea semi-final.
