Liverpool 3-6 Arsenal, League Cup quarter final

A nine-goal thriller ended up with one of the most memorable scorelines in recent League Cup history – this was the first time since 1930 (a 6-0 thrashing by Sunderland) that Liverpool conceded six goals at Anfield.

For Arsenal, Julio ‘The Beast’ Baptista lived up to his name – for once – and helped himself to four goals, while Robbie Fowler and Steven Gerrard (this was no team of Liverpool rookies) got on the scoresheet for the Reds.

Let’s hope tonight’s League Cup fourth-round clash is half as entertaining.
