Everton 0-2 Liverpool – Premier League – October 1st 2011
Everton youngster Jack Rodwell became the (record) 20th player to be sent off in a Premier League Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on Saturday, although the decision by referee Martin Atkinson was a stinker. Rodwell’s challenge was worth nothing more than a foul, but the red card left the Toffees with an uphill battle.
Dirk Kuyt did still miss a penalty but a strike by Andy Carroll (who still doesn’t look like a £35million player), along with Luis Suarez, gave the red half of Liverpool “bragging rights”, whatever they are.
Let’s hope that this tomfoolery didn’t escalate into blind mindless violence
