Manchester City’s U18s whupped their Swindon Town counterparts 4-1 in the FA Youth Cup last night, with the game playing host to a trio of excellent (for one reason or another) goals.
After going two-nil up early on, City’s third goal started the ball rolling when a 25-pass tippy-tappy (it’s the English version of tiki-taka, i.e, it takes place at half the speed of the Spanish equivalent) sequence was rounded off when Adam Drury slotted home in the 26th minute.
Then came Swindon’s consolation, with full-back Luke Burden letting go of a ballistic 40-yard screamer to pull one back on the half-hour mark.
Last, but by no means least, came City’s fourth goal courtesy of Swindon centre-half Adam Oakley – who expertly guided Drury’s cross in off the far post to bag himself a sensational own-goal volley to end the night…
(Skip to the 1:20 mark for all the fun and games)
