Man City To Commemorate Title Win By Turning City Streets Blue – Plan ‘Blue Tarmac’ Tribute

By Chris Wright

Something like that anyway

Manchester City Council have announced that the city is to commemorate Manchester City’s (are you still following?) first title win for 44 years by quite literally painting the town blue.

The plan is to turn the streets of Moss Side blue by laying coloured tarmac. The road in question has already been renamed ‘Blue Moon Way’ after a competition for the residents, and flanks a new housing development on the site of City’s old Maine Road ground – a complex which will ultimately see over 300 swanky new houses and apartments opened.

Prospect GB Limited contracts manager Wayne Hale – a City fan himself – had this to say:

“I’ve been a Blue since I was a boy and standing on Blue Moon Way brings back cherished memories for me – I can see the alleyways I used to cut through to Maine Road.

“This blue-coloured road is a way of marking the heritage of the area and recognising that the Maine Road stadium will never be forgotten. A lot of people come here and feel nostalgic about the as they remember the old days. I think the blue road will become a tourist attraction in its own right – especially after winning the title.”

Blue tarmac aside, the best part of the whole shebang?

“Part of the planned range includes a range of properties named after former City greats like Tony Coleman, Malcolm Allison, Shaun Goater and Uwe Rosler.”

Pies would hereby like to get in early and put down a deposit on a little house on Shaun Goater Lane.

Good job they didn’t do this when United won, or else the whole town would be painted red.

paint the roads blue, they will fade along with city just as chelsea and everyone else did. Nice to see city are still government funded, like most off moss side

Forgive my ignorance, but arent city just going a liiiiittle too far with this celebration. Open bus tour, city streets blue, concerts, banners, pitch invasions. Any other team go as crazy for winning 1 title? 1 trophy? Fair play its an achievement but cry me a river, get a Dynasty going like madrid, barca, united, arsenals invincables, theeeen we can talk about a parade!

First off, Old trafford isn’t in Manchester, so the City of Manchester council are unlikely to pay for a celebratory road. also, who the hell wants to pay for a ‘swanky apartment’ in the middle of Moss side – Englands gun crime capital.

This is what it looks like when a tiny club with little to no history finally wins something. Jesus, City, act like you’ve been there before (even if you haven’t).

I think you will find Manchester United is in manchester. Its like saying chelsea are not based in london because their based Hammersmith and Fulham. Its pritty boring argument same with united fans are not from Manchester with 354m fans your quite likley to find some in fact dont come from manchester.

shame blackburn didn’t do this when they won. blue on one side, white on the other. THAT would have been interesting.
