Manchester City 2-1 Sheffield Wednesday – FA Cup 3rd Round – 4th January 2015

Manchester City came from behind to beat Sheffield Wednesday at the Etihad on Sunday.

The Owls started well and went ahead when Austrian striker Atdhe Nuhiu fired home from a Stevie May pass. That goal came after just 14 minutes but for large periods of the game, the Citizens, with Willy Caballero, Bacary Sagna and Dedryck Boyata all starting, struggled to click into gear. However, just after the hour-mark, ‘false 9’ Milner fired home to level the scores before the England man won the game for the hosts from close-range at the death.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side march into the fourth round and dodge what would have been a most unwelcome replay.

  1. Tom the bees fan says:

Has Milner ever played as a central defender because that would mean has now played(pretty well) in every outfield position on the pitch, not bad for Mr Boring!
