Everton 1-1 Manchester City – Premier League – 10th January 2015

This clash at Goodison Park saw Manchester City fall two points behind league-leaders Chelsea after a disappointing display against Everton.

Shorn of Yaya Touré, is he off at the Africa Cup of Nations, the Citizens struggled to create enough decent chances despite having much of the ball in the first-half. However, in Romelu Lukaku, the Toffees had a striker who was a constant thorn in the side of the Citizens’ backline.

The opening goal of the game did come eventually, on 74 minutes, courtesy of a close-range effort from Fernandinho. However, the hosts were soon level, when Steven Naismith headed home from a Leighton Baines free-kick to secure a well-deserved point for the Merseysiders.

While City drop two points behind Chelsea, Roberto Martinez’s Everton go 12th.
