Ah for a little more video technology in the Premier League! With the game between Manchester City and West Brom less than two mintues old, Craig Dawson felled Wilfried Bony, thus denying the Ivorian attacker a goal-scoring chance. However, rather than send off number 25 Dawson, a rather confused ref Neil Swarbrick showed Gareth McAuley (no. 23) the red card.

McAuley had challenged Bony but this came well after Dawson’s initial challenge and after Swarbrick had blown for the foul.

To be fair, they do look a little alike and after all, all white men do look the same. Oh, and their numbers are similar…

But still! Reminds us of the infamous Gibbs/Oxlade-Chamberlain hoo-ha from a year ago.

    In fairness, i don’t think anyone would argue that which center back was sent off effected the result… Quite the gaffe though
