Great little Friday afternoon watch this.

Football fanzines are going to the wall at a rate of knots these days, a decline that has seen even relatively flush outfits such as Manchester United’s Red Issue first become unsustainable before ceasing operations entirely.

As we’ve said before, as quaint and nostalgic as they may be, when done well a fanzine can be a work of folk art, a social document, an intrinsic part of football (especially British football) culture.

Sadly, the demise seems inevitable, but there are a few remaining bastions of the medium still out there and giving fans a voice week upon week.

This Blue Moon Rising film is an emotional homage to one such diehard fanzine – Man City’s ‘King of the Kippax’ – as told by cult hero editor Dave Wallace as well as many of the ever-decreasing legion of dedicated City fans who help write, illustrate, edit and of course read it…

Lovely stuff, tinged with a little sadness.

The last of the football fanzines? Absolutely NOT!!!

Port Vale’s Derek I’m Gutted continues to be a magnificent read. I look forward to a match much more when a new Derek is on sale.
