Manchester City kept alive their 100% start to the new season with an impressive victory at Goodison Park on Sunday.

The visitors started strongly, with Tim Howard keeping out efforts from Sergio Aguero and David Silva.

However, the Toffees fought back, with Romelu Lukaku hitting the crossbar with a fine free-kick.

The Citizens again started the second period the stronger, with the superb Silva hitting the frame of the goal.

Then, on the hour-mark, the goal came with Aleksandar Kolarov firing past Howard after being fed by Raheem Sterling.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side pushed for a second although ex-Citizen Gareth Barry did see an effort cleared off the line by Vincent Kompany.

But eventually City sealed the deal late on, with sub Samir Nasri lifted the ball over Howard after a slick one-two with Yaya Touré.

The win sees the Mancunians now with nine points out of nine and looking hungry for a serious title-tilt. Roberto Martinez’s Toffees can also take comfort in a decent performance, with John Stone once again impressing at the back.
