Manchester City’s dreams of a Champions League final appearance came crashing to a halt on Wednesday night, after a Gareth Bale goal fired Real Madrid to a 1-0 aggregate victory at the Bernabeu. And City player, Raheem Sterling, was lucky not have his leg broken as well, after a horror lunge from Lucas Vasquez.
Vasquez came on as a second-half sub for Jese Rodriguez, before taking out Sterling with a dreadful studs-up challenge on 83 minutes…
.@realmadriden lucky to have all 11 men on the pitch after Lucas Vasquez’ horror challenge. #UCL #RealvCity https://t.co/zE9KvCSQHG

However, despite having a great view of the incident, ref Damir Skomina only booked Vasquez, rather than showing him a very deserved red.
So Vasquez will now be available for the final against local rivals Atletico Madrid at the San Siro. Lucky chap!
