While many parts of the UK were basking in unseasonably sunny weather on Tuesday, Manchester was living up to its rainy image.

Indeed, the torrential downpours were so extreme that Manchester City’s Champions League clash with Borussia Mönchengladbach had to be called off due to a waterlogged Etihad pitch.

The officials inspected the watery ground earlier in the evening, with their decision to postpone the game inevitable.

After the game had been cancelled, the BMG players went over to thank their severely sodden travelling support.

Mnnchester City then posted this lovely little video showing the extent of the rain…

Fans won’t have to wait long for the rescheduled game, however, which is set for Wednesday evening. Weather permitting, that is!

Yesterday up here was nuts. The weather was absolutely glorious until about 6pm, then the heavens opened and it honestly looked like the End of Days was about to happen. Imagine the electrical storms at the end of “Aliens,” when Ripley is about to blow-up LV-426 and you are about 50% of the way there!
