Because I’m Worth It: Did Mario Balotelli Ask Man City For £180,000 A Week!?

Several sources are reporting that Mario Balotelli’s move to Man City is off because the teenager – and his people – asked for a salary of £180,000 a week, plus image rights.

Oh, that is a good one. City can afford to pay that much, but their problem is, everyone knows they can afford to pay that much. In this case, if the claim is true, Balotelli is really chancing his arm. It’s a ballsy gamble; maybe, just maybe City will be dumb enough, and rich enough to say yes. The bigger the lie etc.

In City’s gold-lined shoes, I’d tell Super Mario’s agent to buy a one-way ticket to Fuck Off. Because there’s taking the piss and there’s REALLY taking the piss.

Amidst all the hype, I think we’ve forgotten that Balotelli is a raw, teenage striker with serious attitude problems – like when we thought Gareth Barry would suddenly turn England into a world-class team.

Let’s be very clear. In no world – not even the crazy, billionaire’s playground that Eastlands has become – is a player like Balotelli worth even £90k a week, let alone twice as much.

So as much as I’d love to have Balotelli in the Premier League (just for the tantrums), I hope City don’t lose sight of his true market value. I’d pay him £75k a week, no more.

How much do you think he’s worth?

    Jimbo = Twat

£200,000 even more because he is pure talent , city pays yaya and adebayor similar dough why not SUPER MARIO /= if he comes city WILL WIN everything

    I THINK 160K

  7. Ryan Kam says:

I am (unfortunately for football as a whole) with Jimbo. I hope they can at least talk him down to 100,000, but I don’t want to hold my breath. They don’t want to scare him off, but obviously, no one wants to pay 180k plus image rights for a volatile 19 year old regardless of talent. I hope the kid stays and his form leaves him, he needs to come back down to earth. I’m by no means a City supporter, but I hope that Man City (ahem) mans up instead of reinforcing the recent “throw money at problems and they’ll figure themselves out” reputation they have seemed to develop recently.

He’s one of the most overrated players ever.

“city pays yaya and adebayor similar dough why not ”

    idiot.

city are dumb enough to pay this for sure. the guy is pure trouble. yes talented, but he’ll be worse than bellamy for team spirit

  10. Peter says:

I wouldn’t fucking buy him. He’s obviosuly only in it for the money, so fuck him if he don’t want to come for good reasons.

  11. Jimbo says:

@Sean. Twat why, because I’m right? The wages that City pay to some of their player is a joke. Money isn’t an issue for them so why won’t they be stupid enough to pay this arrogant kid 180,000 a week? It’s no skin off their noses. And it is dumb. Because he’s not coming for the football, just like not one damn player has come to city for their football. It’s for the paycheck.

@Peter. It’s about the money for all of City’s singings post the Arab invasion. Can’t blame them. If you don’t have any self respect or respect for the game, why just not milk these fuckers for all they’re work and watch your bank balance grow for a few rainy seasons in Manchester?

  12. Jem says:

Give him nothing. Tell him to go away and find another club. City are in grave danger of being a club of mercenaries. If people don’t want to play and Man City then move on to someone else who does. Folan for example has stated he would have no probs playing for City, the rest with their “City is not a big club” rubbish can F off. City have always been a big club (granted a shite team for a long time) but a big club. 15 years ago there was only one real team in Milan. Then A.C. were caught cheating and Inter rose up. Now there are 2 teams in Milan with A.C. being the lesser. Things change, watch out Utd.

  13. Cityin Amsterdam says:

I think that he will agree to what the other strikers on the team are making as an average. 150k. Yes, its high but that is what city started things at. He is better than Ady already and is making big bucks. 180,000 is crazy. They will never pay that. It will destroy the team. We will see. I don”t think we are hearing the whole story since it is always quoted as ” A source close to”. Neither team has even said a word about it, which is strange.

  14. rob says:

mario n inter r just toying with man city, if thoses oily arabs are stupid enough to pay mario is laughing all the way to the bank n so r inter. We win either way!!

  15. Adam says:

180k a week seems fair seeing how he’ll be playing for a team like city.

  16. Jimbo says:

Haha of course Forlan said he’d play for City! I’d play for City for 150,000 – 180,000 a week and I loathe the bitter bastards lol

  17. Seekeroftruth says:

The Balotelli deal is OFF. My brother-in-law is a senior partner at the law firm that represents City. He manages all of the contracts, negotiations with agents etc. The deal is dead. He flew off to Germany this week to tie up a deal…we’ll be MUCH happier with outcome.

I’m disappointed, like another comment, I’d love to see Balotelli in the Premier League – for the fouls, the fights, the ballsy marketing, the goals – but at £180k (which, by the way, was NOT the wage demands) or at £120k (which is what it WAS) is still way too much for a liability. If Robinho hadn’t screwed us around I reckon we’d have taken a punt – but even a rich owner doesn’t like to waste £32.5m and then get his face rubbed in it by a petulant kid…

  18. The 100% Greek says:

Hey mates, 180k/week??? ARE YOU SERIOUS? That is nearly 10 million quid in a year! You can go on to sign at least 2-3 decent players with that kind of money, who will be able to play in a few more positions than Balotelli. I don’t agree with the “SPLASH THE CASH” policy of some “big” clubs, money does not bring success (you need more than that). Why did not they gone after blokes like Diego Forlan,Didier Drogba,Alexis Sanchez,Javier Hernadez if they can afford them?

P.S. ManCity WILL NOT win the Premiership this season (my guess is,it will go to LONDON….)
