Luis Suarez is congratulated by Lugano and co. after refusing to shake Evra’s hand

Never one to miss out on a good fight, Uruguay captain Diego Lugano has waded into the Suarez/Evra debacle by publicly backing his fellow countryman. The tough-tackling (bordering on psychotic) Lugano said:

“You have to have balls to do what Luis did on Saturday. He followed his principles. We live in a democracy, and if you do not want to greet someone, you do not do it. And less so if that person has made you experience some bad moments.”

“He has gone through a few months he did not deserve. Everyone in football knows it is a big circus. Take into account that England is historically a colonial country and racism is a sensitive subject, but we all know it has nothing to do with what happened between Luis and the Manchester United player.”

“It’s a football argument, and many false moralists and hypocrites have profited, and Luis is the only innocent party in this situation.”

There goes any chance of a dream move to Old Trafford for the PSG man, then.

“It’s a football argument, and many false moralists and hypocrites have profited…” – Lugano hit the nail on the head.

  2. jj says:

What makes you think everyone dreams of playing for Manchester United?

  3. Joe says:

Couldn’t agree more. Evra started that whole thing by insulting Suarez’s sister, Suarez responded in a way which in his culture is fully acceptable and got suspended for 8 games for it whilst Evra got off scott free. I wouldn’t have wanted to shake that assclown’s damn hand either.

  4. America says:

Suarez admitted to calling Evra a negro, and it was shown it would be racially offensive even in Uruguayan cultural context. Why do people still rush to defend him? People say oh he’s not racist he has black teammates who like him blah blah blah. Well that clearly didn’t stop him from abusing Evra. Whether he did say it once, seven, or ten times, it doesn’t matter. He deserved to be punished and he was. People may not like Evra and that’s their opinion, but that doesn’t mean he deserves to be abused for the color of his skin which, ask anyone well versed in the human genome and genetics, means just about nothing in terms of making black people “different.” The only thing Suarez showed is that he’s a liability to Liverpool and frankly a shitty human being.

PSG is now one of the richest clubs in the world, doubt he’d be all that interested in joining man utd.

  6. C says:

I can march to the town square while screaming sieg heil, but that doesn’t make me a nazi. That just makes me stupid. Just like Surez.

  7. AJM says:

^But if you did that in Germany, you’d get in a lot of trouble for it.

Suarez wasn’t charged with being a racist, he was charged with using racially abusive language. He was charged by the FA, not the police.

Considering his own admissions, I don’t see how anyone could think that Evra just made all of this up. Good that the commission could see through Suarez/Liverpool’s BS and gave the guy what he deserved.

Amazing how Suarez is now being painted as some kind of hero.

  8. SL says:

The funny thing is with both Suarez and Terry, neither of them have had their reputations lowered by this as they were both low life scum anyway.

This guy is a total moron.

  9. JJ says:

@AJM: Suarez HAS been a hero since the day he stepped on the pitch to many people.
Evra didn’t make it all up, but he certainly has made a mountain out of an ant hill. And he did start the whole confrontation with the classy “concha de tu hermana” comment. Now tell me if that isn’t an invitation for a Uruguayan conversation on English soil.

  10. lfc_man says:

“made a mountain out of an ant hill” – nicely said @JJ. He got banned, didnt feel like shaking Evras hand, its over now. Its not like he attempted to karate kick a fan, that would be a disgrace you know.

Lets forget all this tit for tat bullshit about uniteds morals or fergies or who ever you could argue all fucking day about it all day. The fact of the matter is suarez is a fucking snake his first game back he kicked shit out of scotty parker, he bit a player in the Dutch league and im sure there are many more things his done along the way. He also tried to take parkers eyes out eye out he was charged on something he admitted doing does it matter that if its ok not ok in his home country? He hasnt fucking lived there in years if it was a man on the street people would call for his head for using well thats all good in my country its bollox your in our country abide by our rules I’m sick of the site of this donkey looking prick it’s being dragged on and on and it’s boring now.

  12. Luis says:

why did Evra report racist comments from Suarez? who does that? he is such a little bitch

  13. Magic turtle says:

Everyone dreams of playing for united. There is a reason that they are the most supported club in the world and it certainly isn’t because they endorse radiate like liverpool do

  14. dennis says:

    Luis
Yes how dare he step up against racims…

  15. R-Hops says:

If Suarez showed balls, then he deserves to have them vigorously tweaked by Freddie Kruger himself!

Its a silly statement from Lugano, and Suarez couldve put this to bed at Old Trafford last Saturday. Neither player are angels, far from it, but Suarez isn’t a hero, he racially abused another man, and regardless of rivalry, nationally, occupation, language or anything else, it is not acceptable. Kick Racism out of Football!

  16. KingKenneth says:

Luis is a sneaky l’il ba****d. But god knows I love him. Who’s David by the way ?? Lets move on guys. Its Fergie’s fault. Till he’s there, he’ll keep spanking us like l’il bit**s. Thats what I told Luis. If Luis had any balls he would be scoring goals. Yes , thats what I told him. Exactly. I am rambling now.

  17. Chris says:

Evra was simply looking out for Man U’s spot on the league table, clean and simple. Frankly, you don’t have to like your opposition. What happened between the two of them should have stayed on the pitch, But going off and ratting on Suarez to the FA is a BITCH MOVE.. i don’t like either of them for the record.

  18. Gab says:

I never really noticed how many stupid people comment on this site.

  19. 2-4-6-8-Motorway says:

    Evra is a wankstain

  20. Jarren says:

    @Gab: Welcome to the internet.
