With charity the theme of the day here on Pies, here’s another little yarn to pluck your cockles and warm your heartstrings.

What you are about to see is Manchester United’s Nani, Park Ji-Sung, Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling humping 200 footballs into the back of the DHL van (with a little help from the tricksy driver) at Carrington.

The balls were then couriered 4,395 miles to the ‘World Hope Community Project’ in Kenya, where the van was met by ex-United stars and charity ambassadors Andy Andrew Cole and Quinton Fortune – who duly handed out the balls to 200 local children in Nairobi and had a bit of a kick-about with them…

The net result? Balls for all…

Lovely stuff.

I see they brought out all the A-listers out.

    Lovely gesture anyway.

Is the old guy trying to pretend he is Fergie..?

Great idea! As we all know, it was football that turned Brazilian slums into happy towns of prosperity.

Must be cynical or my hatred of United is clouding my optimistic disposition, but you do realise this is all an advertisenment. The balls were placed and shipped in proper containers.

Good on them to do something, but it’s not like these 100K a week stars are donating their own money and I’m sure Ferguson forced them to attend this shoot anyway.

    Toz the knob.

Toz, we all know its an advert/publicity move.

My reservation with the charity is who they are handing out/working with:

Its another evangelical xtian org which means the help they provide comes with very large string attached.
