Portuguese attacker Bebe still has a future at Manchester United, according to Alex Ferguson, after the forgotten man of Old Trafford popped up to secure a draw for United at the death against Ajax Cape Town.
Making his first appearance for the Red Devils in 17 months, the £7.2million winger saved United’s blushes with a last gasp equaliser against a decent Ajax Cape Town side. New-signing Shinji Kagawa made his full debut for the Mancunian giants, although he did miss a total sitter.
After the game, Fergie spoke of the selection problem the return of Bebe has given him, saying:
“We’ll see how the season progresses for him, but it gives me a headache in terms of number of strikers we have there. That’s not a bad thing, though. He had his loan at Besiktas and then picked up the bad injury which kept him out for most of the season.”
“That is probably his first game for about eight months, so he will be pleased to be back playing and pleased he scored a goal.”
Bebe may yet have a future with United. Or he may just be sold really quickly and never mentioned again.
His goal comes around the 2:40 mark.
