Norwich City 1-0 Manchester United – Premier League – 17th November 2012

As an Irishman myself, I’ve always hoped that wideman Anthony Pilkington would choose to line out for the Republic of Ireland rather than England. Despite making one appearance for the Irish U21s, the 24-year-old is yet to cement his allegiance to the Boys in Green, but (courtesy of a Dublin granny), he would surely be a decent addition to the struggling Irish. And yes, he’d probably never get near Roy Hodgson’s side if he did decide to opt for the Three Lions. Anyway, enough of all that meandering waffle –  in Saturday’s late game at Carrow Road, it was the man in question’s deft header on the hour-mark which would seal a famous victory for the Canaries against the mighty Man U.

The Red Devils failed to really fire all afternoon, with the defensive pairing of Sebastien Bassong and Michael Turner dealing with Robin Van Persie and Javier Hernandez all game while behind them, goalkeeper John Ruddy was in fine form for the Canaries.

With little creativity on show, United can have little complaint about the result, which sees them now one point behind City. As for Chris Hughton and Norwich, they move up to 13th as their season looks to have well and truly ignited.

C’mon Pilko, do it for your granny in Dublin.

    Really poor performance from United.

    Not to take away from the accomplishment of Norwich, but I expected a 0-3 scoreline (at least).

    What makes it even more disappointing as a United fan is that we fielded as strong a side as we could.

    Next week’s CL match against Galatasaray is meaningless in the long run, so obviously Fergie picked the premium squad at his disposal.

    Norwich pestered, they defended well, they deserved their win.

    We were disinterested. It reminded me of the Arsenal match at Carrow Road a few weeks ago, although we did play marginally better.

    Still, not good enough for supposed title challengers.

    Well done Delia.

    Seriously what the fuck is going on with these fucking ads!!!!

    EVERY SINGLE TIME I GO ON THIS SITE I AM IMMEDIATELY CONFRONTED WITH A FUCKING AD I HAVE TO WATCH!!!

    I’m not going to buy a fucking notebook, sort it out pies!!!

    On a side note Ferguson is losing it, how the fuck can he pick Giggs over Anderson, terrible tactics, baffling subs, no guts, no excuses from Ferguson, he messed up AGAIN. I hate to say it but maybe Ferguson needs to seriously look at his ability as being a top quality manager, his tactics seem clueless, no defence, nothing through the middle, no pressing, no creativity, time and time again pass to the wings and put in a poor cross. Not good enough.

      @Mr Sensible: As stated, the 20-second ad is only supposed to play once a month. It’s probably an issue with your cookies/cache.

    @Mr Sensible:

    I watched an ad for The Sun once, on Friday.

    Since then, WAATP has been fine.

    It has been mentioned that this once-a-month video ad may become reality, and it appears that it has.

    It was actually put to public vote here a month or so ago.

    I think it’s fine.

    If you are getting the ad continuously, you might want to check your internet settings.

    @Mr Sensible

    Get ad block plus as a plug in for your browser! I have never even seen these ads on Pies, I only knew about them once I saw complaints in comments.

    Cool, I’ll have a look into it.
